Fully handmade teapots require more labor and more skill to construct, especially in the case of more complex shapes. The clay will develop a shine from use. Zhuni clay is prized for its ability to bring out the best flavours. It is also the most difficult clay to fire as it is more likely to break during the process. This zhuni was mined from \u003cspan\u003e赵庄 \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eZhaozhuang, one of the three mining sites for zhuni in Yixing, the other two being 黄龙山 \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003eHuang Long Shan, and 小煤窑 Xiaomeiyao.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.mudandleaves.com\/blog\/yixing-zhuni-part-1\"\u003eYou can read more about zhuni clay in our blog entry here.\u003c\/a\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eA sample of this batch of clay was sent f\u003cspan\u003eor testing by an independent lab using Energy Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry (EDXRF). EDXRF is a preferred method for testing, as it is non-destructive, and provides immediate data on the elemental composition of the material. It removes the dust from firing the teapot.\u003cbr\u003eWe recommend rinsing the teapot under warm water two or three times, then filling the teapot with boiling water and emptying it out two to three times.
