This gaiwan features a ring saucer, a very old design. The hole in the centre of the saucer prevents the gaiwan from sticking to the saucer as easily as other gaiwans.
Tianbai 甜白 translated as Sweet White, is a rich white porcelain glaze created during the Ming Dynasty YongLe Period (AD1403 – 1424).
This gaiwan is handmade of fine white porcelain with tianbai glaze by our studio partner QingKe Xuan 清可轩 in Jingdezhen China. The porcelain is fine with good translucence and the jade-like quality that is typical of Tianbai Jingdezhen Porcelain.
