This teacup was handmade of fine porcelain and features a hand painted qinghua scene by the artist 匡石 KuangShi, a master of qinghua porcelain painting in Jingdezhen.
Kang Shi, originally named Fu Xiaojing, was born in 1972 and is from Duchang, Jiangxi Province. He is a graduate of the Fine Arts Department of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute and is a Senior Ceramic Artist, Senior Technician, and a member of the Chinese Arts and Crafts Society, all of which is certified by the Chinese government. KangShi is known for his innovative use of qinghua (blue and white) technique on porcelain and his blending of traditional and modern influences.
This kind of porcelain is known as fanggu porcelain because it aims to revive an ancient style of porcelain. Fanggu technique is more costly and difficult to execute properly than modern styles of porcelain.
