This teapot was fully handmade of fine porcelain and features hand painted flowers in qinghua (blue) and youxiacai (underglaze) pink by the artist 匡石 KuangShi, a master of qinghua porcelain painting in Jingdezhen.
This kind of porcelain is known as fanggu porcelain because it aims to revive and reproduce an ancient style of porcelain. Fanggu technique is more costly and difficult to execute properly than modern styles of porcelain.
