2021 Spring BAOSHAN Ancient Wild Tree Raw Pu'er Tea Cake
by 春日山蓝 Azure Spring of Taiwan
Season: Spring 2021
Origin: TianTang Shan, Baoshan Prefecture, Yunnan Province China
Tree Variety: 原生大理种 Camellia taliensis (Dali Tea Tree / Wild Tea Tree)
Tree Age: 300 +
The tea is unblended material picked from ancient wild tea trees (Camelia taliensis) growing at an elevation of 2500-3000m in TianTang Mountain National Forest in Baoshan, Yunnan. The trees in this part of the forest are old growth wild tea trees. The trees supplying the material for these cakes were estimated to be over 300 years old. The oldest trees in this section of the forest are estimated to be close to 1000 years old.
These cakes were stone pressed by hand by 春日山蓝 Azure Spring of Taiwan. A total of 1300 cakes were produced.
This tea is quite different from pu'er made from younger cultivated tea trees. The age of the trees shows in the tea's smooth profile. The flavour itself is subtly layered with a refreshing finish.
