Capacity: 125ml filled to the brim
Each cup is entirely handmade and hand painted by the artist. The painting inside the cup may vary slightly from the one in the photos above.
This cup is handmade of fine Jingdezhen porcelain, but it is also finished with a special dark red glaze known as Jihong 霁红 and with a hand painted blue-and-white pattern. The firing temperature has to be strictly maintained at 1280°C. This product is very difficult to make and thus has a high scrap rate. Jihong is a glaze color that can only be fired successfully within a narrow range of temperature (around 1280°C to 1300°C). In order to fire Blue-and-White and red at the same time successfully, the temperature needs to be strictly controlled, at the same time the formulae of the glaze and body need to be adjusted accordingly. Thanks to the artist, we are able to have these two classic forms in one cup.
