Taoshan Studio is dedicated to producing elegantly practical clay tea ware by hand. The studio has become known in Jingdezhen for its beautifully minimalist design and the great craftmanship. The colors and patterns are the result of the artist, Lei Jie, adding minerals to the outside of the glaze or placing them right beside the piece during the firing process. During firing the material reacts and transfers color to the surface of the ceramic. This technique can be seen in his "White Jade Series" and the"Water Ink Painting Series". Because of the element of chance in size, color and pattern of the technique, each piece is entirely unique.
