Capacity: 175ml
This teapot is made with a thinner wall than our standard ruyao teapots. Due to the nature of the glaze and body of true ruyao, it is very difficult to make a ruyao teapot with thin walls. This is one of the first of a series of new teapots by Lee Shanming that makes use of new methods to reduce the thickness of the ruyao. This glaze is the royal jade ruyao.
The teapot was handmade in Shan Kiln studio, Jingdezhen. Lee Shanmin, the owner of Shan Kiln studio, has devoted himself to ru kiln products for over 15 years. His signature is on the bottom of the pot, it says "Shan" 善. "Shan" is the middle character of the artist's name, it means kindness.
This ancient pottery technique known as Ru Kiln (Ruyao) originated during the Song dynasty. It is one of the finest quality traditional Chinese crafts on the market.
